When she is not working on feature films as a sound editor, Vickie writes and directs her own films. CLICK THREE TIMES, featuring Emmy-winning actress Isabel Sanford, is a touching tale of a mentally challenged girl who befriends a homeless woman she believes to be her fairy godmother. This short film racked up an impressive collection of festival awards and accolades, including:
Another film Vickie wrote and directed, LAST CHANCE SALOON, is a look at one woman's attempt to deal with her everyday problems by escaping into a western-themed fantasy world. LAST CHANCE SALOON won Best Short Film at the Houston Film Festival. Vickie was one of only 12 women selected by AFI to participate in their Directing Workshop for Women, and this film was the result. Vickie has won Golden Reel awards from the Motion Picture Sound Editors for her sound editing work on Pirates of the Caribbean, Under Siege, The River, and Romancing the Stone. She has devoted many hours to educating aspiring young filmmakers at Video Symphony and is an adjunct professor at USC's School of Cinema and Television. She also guest lectures about the importance of artful sound editing at AFI's Directing Workshop for Women and at various film workshops and schools. She is on the board of and is a member of the Alliance of Women Directors and is a proud, card-carrying member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild, Local 700 of the IATSE. She is also a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, where she serves on the Sound Branch Executive Committee.
