Michaela von Schweinitz is a filmmaker with a background in photography, 8mm film, video and print media. She left behind a successful career as a journalist to write, edit, produce and direct her first German 16mm short film, "Küss Mich (Kiss Me)". After meeting renowned acting and directing teacher Judith Weston in Cologne/Germany, Michaela decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue her acting and directing career. She joined Filmmakers Alliance in Los Angeles in 2004 to write, direct and edit her first independent American award winning short The Meeting. Michaela joined AWD, Alliance of Women Directors in 2007. She worked on film sets as camera operator, camera assistant, grip, electric, assistant director, script supervisor, production assistant and boom operator.
Her first feature as a director and cinematographer is the comedy "Ballad Of A Third Grade Teacher" shot on location in Los Angeles in 2006, currently in post production.
